261,000 Britons visit Morocco for a holiday

Morocco's Tourism Department published figures recently revealing that 261,000 Britons visited Morocco between January and July this year. According to new estimates, the number of tourists visiting Morocco is set to increase by more than a third over the next three years.

Official figures revealed that in 2006, some 6.5 million chose Morocco as a holiday destination. The Moroccan Government has set itself a target for ten million holidaymakers by 2010.

"If these targets are achieved, it's great news for those buying in Morocco right now," points out Paul Norton of The Norton Group. "There's likely to be increased demand for property, rental rates will soar, and occupancy rates will rise."

"Property prices could also be affected. What's affordable and excellent value right now may not be so accessible for people in just a couple of years time," he cautions.
